Almost Got Killed by a Mini

Driving home on Dumbarton bridge in the middle lane at a safe 65mph when I notice a mini hauling ass behind me. There's a Jetta on his left and he floors it trying to make the left lane to overtake me. In the process almost clipping me in the rear. Turns out it's some bozo from a dealership making a delivery as it had dealer plates. This is not the first time I've seen cars with dealer plates being driven so wrecklessly and basically being thrashed before they've been broken in.

Previously also witnessed a Honda Accord and the new Toyota Solara with dealer plates being thrashed.

Idiots [mad]

My g/f's brother used to be a mechanic at Hayward Toyota. They had some real characters working there. But that also meant lots of free parts. We still get free parts. My custom cut floor mats for the BMW and Mercedes were free b/c someone from there ordered it for my g/f's bro.

Just because the guy accelerates quickly doesn't mean he's abusing the car. Sure, he made a careless move but as long as he didn't do anything that goes against the break-in period and delivers the car perfectly, then I'm sure it's fine.

Hey, isn't a "test drive" designed to check the car's acceleration, among other things??? I, myself, also "trash" new cars according to your vocabulary. No way am I gonna buy a new 760i, for example, without HEAVILY flooring it SEVERAL times. That's how they're being tested [:D] [:D] and there's nothing one can do about it - just never buy the new car off the lot [:D] [:D] [:D] - always get them shipped from the factory!!!![hihi] [hihi] [hihi]

PS. I know the guy was not test driving it, but test drive is a scenario that takes place millions of times per day in the world and basically does the same to the car what you had described.

Isn't that why they have demo cars for people to "thrash" them? I don't believe anyone would want to buy a new (or any) car that's been thoroughly abused. I'm less bothered by the fact that the car was being thrashed since I'm not buying it [:D] but more so by the fact that these dealer deliveries are being so wreckless and putting other people's lives and property at stake just because they're out for a joy ride.
