Another fun track day

Hey folks!

Got back from another fun DE event.

A bit too hot, but not bad. I managed to get car sick though and only ran 3 sessions.

The event was relatively low on attendnace which meant less traffic and more driving - good. Our "gang" had 8 cars running, including a Mini.

We did have some mechanical difficulties with cars this time (our Red M3 broke the radiator right after arriving at the track, fixed; Solara started to grind rims against the struts, sorta fixed; WRX lost the shiftknob, fixed).

No track day goes without crashes, so we had one again. A beastly S/C-ed E36 M3 lost ABS on one wheel and under braking the car suddenly jerked into the wall. Everyone was OK, but damage was done...

The car felt great. The Victoracers are now broken in and gripped like mad. Undesteer is virtually gone, only appearing a bit when the fronts got too hot. It was exciting to reel in the competition. One E36 would not want to let off the gas on the straights and I didn't have enough power to pass him in time before the braking zone (they don't allow passing in the corners). So finally I just outbraked him into the chicane passed the "passing cones". I was expeting them to black-flag me fo being naughty, but the corner worker must have seen me being desperate. [:D] Fun.

Here are some more pictures:

Nice photos. Too bad about the M3. When I was instructing for the Inland Empire Chapter, BMW CCA we had a bad accident. We set a goal to elminate them and have not had one since, knock on wood. We still get the occassional off track adventure, but nothing serious.

Not dangerous, less actually than running on the street. You can expect what is going to happen to you most of the time. And you know that no one will suddenly jump in front of you. [:D]

This was a big accidnet. We only had a few this year, most driver's mistakes. One guy was too hot-headed and was going for it on a cooling lap.... wrapped around a wall. But no one gets hurt, in fact I don't know if anyone ever got hurt at a DE.

Going off the track is normal, just stay clear off the walls. [:)] I would recommend doing it to anyone, just remember what you are there for is to learn not to race. Plus you'd be a much much more confident and better driver on the street as well.
