AntiLock Gears?

I was reading a post a while ago on fixing my AntiLocks, well anyways I soldered in a new fuse and I went out to go test the brakes. It was rainy out and I was going 40~mph and Slammed the brakes, I could feel the peddle move some but it felt "clunky" not like my other cars. Is this normal for that old of a car? From my newer cars I can hear a distinct buzzing sound from under the hood, and I don't hear anything from my e30, it feels like the brakes are slipping, also I have really really low pads, does that have any thing to do with it?

If your pads are that low you definitely should replace them. That will make a big difference. And you don't want them to start grinding into the rotors. If that happens you will have to get your rotors turn or outright replaced.

When the anti lock kicks in on my '89 I can definitely feel the brake pedal pulsate as it should. The system is set to cut in at up to 15x per second when you apply the brakes all-out to ensure the brakes do not lock.

When I bought my first BMW ('86 325, used), I took it out for a test drive and hit the brakes hard to test them. We heard this LOUD grinding noise, loud enough to scare both me and the salesman. The salesman later told me it was the anti-lock brakes and I ended up buying the car.

The point is the A/L brakes are loud in early models and you'll know when they are engaged. It's unmistakable.
