Dealer mentioned that BMW would be dropping the E90 engines in the '06 E46 models. I haven't been able to find anything to back it up.

The reason I ask is that I'm about to pull the trigger on at a 2005 325ci coupe. The dealer is very willing to get rid of this car because its been sitting there for a while. Without even asking, he said he would sell at invoice (I'm thinking he'll sell for below). I"m pretty sure I can negotiate a very attractive deal.

However:

1. The vehicle was manufactured in November 2004. It was initially shipped to Michigan but somehow ended up in Maryland. It has a little over 100 miles on it. Any worries about it sitting around for ten months?

2. I had a '04 325i that had decent acceleration. However, the 325ci seemed a bit 'sluggish.' I was quite surprised. I hate to say this, but my '04 Jetta GLS 1.8T seems MUCH peppier (I've read the other posts on this and just wanted to add my .02).

3. I really, really want to wait for the E92, but I'm so impatient. Someone please talk me out of making this deal. [rolleyes]

Thanks.

-This is probably the last model year for all E46 vehicles and there will be no E90 engines dropped into them.

-You should be able to get the car for under invoice.

-The miles are okay and the car sitting for 10 months should be okay, too. I don't think it's very good for the car, but lots of dealerships end up with some new cars on their lot just sitting there for up to a year.

-The 325i and 325Ci offer the same acceleration and the Jetta 1.8T isn't faster, either. The thing about the Jetta 1.8T is that the turbocharger kicks in low and I believe peak torque is available at 1,900rpm's so when you do hard acceleration in the Jetta, it feels very quick. But if you watch the speedo, the feel of the car will be deceiving (feels faster than it is).
