I just recently installed mine.. But I have a 2001 so it didn't come with the port in the glovebox.. I had to buy a separate unit for it.. But the unit I have works great..

Can you control the iPod through the wheel like the one that's connected to the newly released iPod connector?

Yeah it gives me full control via the steering wheel as well.. and better yet, it's not locked up in the glove box. I mounted mine in one of my cup holders so it's at my finger tips.. The only problems is that my kit was expensive.. But looking back, it was a great investment.. Plus it has it's own power source so it doesn't kill my ipod's battery ..

commander_crash, Please let us know how it goes after install...

I called 3 local places and only 1 place was helpful. The other 2 had absolutely no info on it at all. They did not seem interested as nobody had called asking about it yet. Seemed odd...

i'm interested in the whole "ipodyourbmw" deal, but
a: i dun have an ipod.
b: kit costs $150 + install.. (so i'll be out at least 500, but i know it'll be more like 600+)
c: minor, but why can't they freakin display the name of the songs on the display?

what is this cd 2-34 crap they keep showing on the pdf? wonder if it's really hard to make the screen display and you can choose one of 5 play lists, or you can play the entire library in your ipod.. how? by going track 1, 2, 3, blah blah??

i could just be fuming over nothing, as maybe that may not be the case.. (hopefully) but who knows.. and i'd rather have the pod somewhere other than inside the glovebox.. but that's really minor..

can anyone shed any light on the matter above?
