Are HID headlights stolen frequently?

Maxima's? Really? BMW xenons don't get stolen very often. The stories you hear are usuallly Acura TLs because people think they fit in Accords perfectly. People who own BMWs typically have money to buy their own xenons instead of ripping them off of another car.

Yeah, they even had a news story on the Maxima and it was pretty popular on the web. The 2002-2003 Maxima with Xenons (the last two years or so before the all-new Maxima came out, Nisan gave the upper-model Maxima HID headlights) would have their xenon bulbs stolen easily !! This was because the headlamp assembly was very easy to dis-assemble (I don't think they even had to open the hood)...trained thieves were able to steal both bulbs in about 30 seconds.
Also, I think the Mercedes S-class and BMW 7-series were having this same problem a few years ago, but the manufacturers corrected this "issue" and made it mough tougher to access the headlamp assembly on all their vehicles.

30 seconds? Wow. Didn't hear anything like that over here. Prolly cuz no one buys Maximas here. It's all about the Altimas around here. They're as thick as Accords and Camrys.

The new Altima's tail lights are horrible. Looks like they designed tail lights and built a car for the tail lights. [fake]
As for the timing, yeah. This one woman was on the news story...she parks her Maxima outside and she had her Xenons stolen several times. So one time, the news channel setup a hidden camera and they caught the thieves who did it. They filmed the whole thing and showed it on the news with a timer, lol.

I used to live in Boston, and there was this S4 that always parked in front of my building. They must have had their xenons stolen 2 or 3 times! It seemed that every few months I would come out and there would be a giant hole in the front of their car [rolleyes] I would be pissed if my lights were stolen once let alone several times!

My dad's friend had the light stolen two times on his Maxima. Once at 2pm in an Ikea parking lot. BTW They steal the whole assembly because all you have to do is stick a flat screwdriver betweent the hood and the light in the right place and the whole things just pops off. I think BMW uses screws to hold the head lights so you would have to open the hood to take the whole assembly out. Nissan was just too cheap for the screws.

YES!! THATS EXACTLY IT, NOW I REMEMBER !! Because they even showed the woman driving her Maxima without the headlights at all, lol! When they contacted Nissan, they said they were going to remedy the problem...bs, they just came out with a new Maxima instead.

My friend had a 2000 Audi S4 and his entire car was stolen. It was finally found by the cops, and it was very stripped down. Wheels, Xenons, and all these other parts were completely gone.
