I have had my E90 for 3 weeks now and I love the car.
However it has a few minor problems that worry me and I
want to learn if any of you has the same problem(s).

The seat position memory does not work from the remote,
only pushing the memory buttons on the side of the seat.
The dealer said that they heard some more complaints and
that “the software is not ready” and will be available in September.

Other non-working items:
Doors do not lock automatically soon after car starts moving.
Passenger vanity mirror light not working
Passenger side airbag indicator light comes on and off
(independently of anybody seating there).
Button to copy garage door opener cannot be set.

Please let me know if these features work on your car.
If not, what was the reason given to you?

Worst of all: as I pick up my car (after nearly 3 days) without any of these
problems solved, I realize that the key lock does not hold the key anymore.
The key falls of the lock even when the car is running!
My guess is that someone who handled the car did not know what they
were doing and pulled hard to remove it. Now I have to wait 3-5 days
for the “part” to arrive. Meanwhile I am driving holding the key in place
with 2 $1 bills so it won’t fall.

When I got my previous 330i from a different dealership, I was told
that they would program the keys with my desired options, which they
did. No such thing happened this time.

I appreciate your comments and experience with this car as I am
trying to figure out what is going on with mine.

Thanks in advance

Paul

so far been lucky no problems with side airbag indicator light, and vanity mirror light. our key fob works fine. continue reading manual regarding garage door opener, had the same problem at first because of old garage door opener. the remote seat adjuster is not standard. it wont be available till sept. (its called the comfort access key and its a $500 option)

Thanks for your help nilerodgers.

I learnt that some of my “problems” should be solved with the upcoming
September upgrade.

Problems like the passenger airbag indicator are still not clear.

The problem with the broken key is something else, and hopefully it will
be fixed without further complications.

I love the car and I trust BMW (but I do not trust the dealers). Hopefully
I will only take it in for oil changes in the future.

Thanks again.

Paul

Hope everything works out for you guys!

Yeah, when I bought my car, dealer didn't program my car for me either. It was an E46. But that's a dealer problem. I don't go there for service anymore cuz I know they suck. Yes, Shelly BMW, that's you!

Can't believe they are trained, but not fully skilled for the BMW AG up-to-date products. Oh well!

OK...........BMW and NEW MODEL do not go hand in hand. BMW always had mad issues with their "New" models. After my 5er experience, I will never buy a first run "new" model BMW again.......I will leave that to you guys, so you can tell BMW what issues to fix before I buy one. [thumb]

OH and Welcome to the board Guys[welcome] [bmwdance]

I have not experienced any issues with the things you mentioned, but I am having several problems. Does any of this sound familiar?

I just signed up for this forum because I am looking to talk (type) with someone who has a 2006 330i. I have had it for about 6 weeks and noticed a lot of "shimmy" in the wheel at 45mph. Also, sometimes after I come to a complete stop (about 1-2 seconds after completely stopping) I notice a jerking motion which feels like a hard gear shift in the transmission.I had it in once to service and they told me the shimmy was from faulty run flat tires and they replaced them. I was trying to over look the slight jerking motion (almost feels like someone has tapped me from behind when it happens) and proceeded to get the car back. The shimmy was still there at 45mph and then had a slight vibration at 85 MPh. I took it back and complained about the "transmission" jerking thing. They had me back up there to drive it again with a technician and are telling me this "transmission" thing is totally normal (something about the transmission locking down to the drive train). I have owned 4 BMW's prior to this purchase and it is odd to me that this would be normal. I also am getting a "sticking" sensation when I release the brakes if the car is stopped on a decline. They told me that was normal too. I got this whole line of stuff from a technician about how this car is "so much more advanced than the others" (I had a 2003 330 coupe with dinan before). Anyway, to make a long story short, I wanted to see if you are experiencing any of the things I have mentioned above. I am wondering why BMW would make a car that has a less pleasurable driving experience because of "advanced technology". That just makes no sense to me. He also told me that the vibration is because the car is more sensitive to the road now. WHAT? So, I want a $45,000 car that bumps because it is so sensitive. This makes zero sense to me and I am so frustrated!

I really appreciate any feedback you can give me. They still have my car and I am going to request to test drive a different 330 when I go back to compare. If my explanations are not clear, I can try to better explain if you are interested in talking with me about this.

The dealer said that they heard some more complaints and
that “the software is not ready” and will be available in September. The dealer is right on this account, it is not a problem, but the actual advanced key memory software is/was not available yet.

Other non-working items:
Doors do not lock automatically soon after car starts moving. Can be set by the dealer to do so, or if you have I-Drive you can do it yourself.

Passenger vanity mirror light not working Should be an easy fix if necessary.
Passenger side airbag indicator light comes on and off
(independently of anybody seating there). Monitor this, when in drive/park, with and without passengers or heavy items in the front seat

Button to copy garage door opener cannot be set. If you have a rolling code system for your garage door opener it is a bit more difficult to set this function. If it is this type of system you will need two people, and specific directions for your garage door system to set the Homelink.

Please let me know if these features work on your car.

You'd probably be more successful if you went to the sales department and requested to test drive a 330i with the same options as yours (ex: auto trans and active steering or w/out active steering). Some dealers are less than friendly when it comes to giving test drives to former customers/ those with service concerns.

I don't know if you have answers to all your questions, but my auto door lock feature doesn't work either. I also couldn't get my homelink to work initially. As someone mentioned previously, the ones with rolling codes, which mine is, have to be programmed a bit differently. Mine has a small button on the back of the main unit that I had my son press while I programmed the car and now it works great. Trying to use the remote wouldn't work. Let us know how things work out

If you want the doors to lock, you need to go to the dealer and ask them to program that feature... It doesn't do it automatically.

Same issue with the programming for my E90 door locks - I was at Shelly BMW for service (the aforementioned external temp sensors) last week and asked them to program the door locks as i too had been told the programming would be available "in September" - and the same issue with the seat memory as well - apparently the key fob doesn't actuate the memory for the seats either? Wow. And (why not), I too am unable to program my garage door button(s) - sigh. Too many electronic doodads, I guess? While I absolutely love the car, I'm surprised that - even the door locks - can't be programmed to lock automatically upon driving off. Needless to say, the door locks never were programmed, and while the service advisor was otherwise great, he just glossed over my request to program the door locks.
