ashtray replacement accessories?

I have a 2001 325i sedan, the ashtrays have never been used, and never will be. Does anyone know of any available accessories to plug into the ashtray slots?

I'm not sure, but I think you can add oil temp and voltmeters to that area. Maybe that is the gap just above the ash tray. anyways, here's what i'm talking about http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp

There is something like a "nonsmoker kit" or some such from BMW. I haven't found it on the web, but ask a dealer.

Thought I'd bring this thread back since it's been a while and someone may have some more info. Anyone know of a replacement bin for the ashtrays in our cars?

I bought the non-smoker kit from a dealer and put it in a few months ago. I like it -- the bins are a touch bigger -- enough to be useful. Also they are lined with a slightly soft rubbery surface that holds things in place and makes a worthwhile improvement in not rattling. It's a minor detail overall, but I'd definitely do it again.

There are three parts -- a bin piece and a replacement console piece for the front, and a replacement console piece for the rear. You can save a few Jacksons by not buying the replacement console piece for the front. Just get the bin for the front, then clip out the light on your existing console piece from the front and break off the little protruding plastic piece that keeps the new bin from fitting. It worked great for me.

You can reference one of the DIY's that tells how to add the lighted shift knob for instructions on how to get underneath the front console piece to get the light out.

Save the light and you have a spare for when one of the shift console illuminators burns out.

I'm also a non smoker. I use my ashtray to hold my wireless remote for my iPod (fitted in glove box with BMW AUX port), power, wireless remote receiver, etc.

I have my XM Commander mounted in my ashtray -- Looks really cool...and I can close it to conceal it. I follwed the example at this link---
