At what point do I freak out?

Okay, I have a question. I ordered my 330i Performance about a month ago and have been periodically checking bmwusa.com to view my order detail to see when it goes into production. For the last few weeks, it's been saying "mystic blue, black leather interior" . I called my sales guy because I ordered gray leather, not black. He said not to worry until the car goes into production. Well, the car is now scheduled for production on 9/5 and is now saying "steel blue, black leather". I'm sitting on my hands trying not to bug my sales guy again, but at what point do I freak out???

Has anyone experienced this with any of their orders? I'm just concerned 'cause when I ordered my vette, I tracked the entire process to the most minute detail and nothing was ever wrong.

Any advice is appreciated - even if it's just to tell me to relax.....

hehe...from my years of observation, BMW has been pretty good in regard to meeting their production dates. I wouldnt depend too much on the web site. If your production date is 9/5, it will take about another month to arrive here and another 2-3 weeks to arrive at your dealer.

Um, thanks Tom. But I really don't care about the date at all. What I'm concerned about is that fact that the website shows both the wrong interior and exterior color.....

I had a similar problem with my order - none of the options were being displayed on their Owner's Circle. I emailed them and it was corrected. I also noticed they were behind in updating the vehicle status throughout the order-to-delivery process. Anyway, you might call BMW NA and express your concern. Keep us posted.

Phew, you had me worried there for a second, Tom! [;)]

Mscoins - How did you e-mail them? I didn't see anything on the site - did you find a link in your owner's circle?

Unfortunately when you click on the contact us link though - you're sent into cyberjail with e-mail help processes and forms that only pertain to the site itself. Maybe I'll try one though just to see.

So no one has ever had their information wrong on their order before??

I don't know BEEMIN. I too placed an order from my local dealer here. At frist, the specs did not my order. Not even close kind of order. Model was wrong, color was off. Everything were just wrong. The Salesguy did told me (at the time when he gave me the order number) that the order will change within 48 hours.

I waited 2 business days, guess what. Everything matches. Too bad my production date is in Oct. Oh well.

But dude, you better call BMWUSA. Once the car is in production, I don't think they can change the specs. I wouldn't bother with email. Call them today. Time to write some names down.

Or

Maybe the dealer gave you the wrong order number. Does the location on your order match the dealership?

Beemin- Mine was scheduled for production also for 9/5 but it actually started 8/27. Owners circle shows status in production with the color options showing up correctly. Although the Est production date still shows as 9/5. It also gives me the VIN .
Hope yours is as you've ordered.

When I ordered my first roadster it came with numerous additional items that were optional then. My salesman offered me the car at the same price (heated seats $550.00 - free, 17" tire and wheel combination $1,100.00 option - free) I saved a lot of money thanks to their screwup, and in the long run I am glad I did because the 17's are wonderful and the heated seats are nice in the early spring. It also came with the crome package $150.00 option but I paid for that one. I did not want to be seen a tight! Hahaha

If I were you I wouldn't wait too long.....if you wait too long there's a chance that production starts and the colors for exterior/interior are actually wrong and then you would have to wait longer for them to make the right one....don't worry about being a pain cuz like codex said, he's ur salesman and he doesn't help you then you could refuse the car and he loses a sale

How did you determine that your car actually went into production on 8/27. I also have a 9/5 production date (seems like a popular number), but would love to hear that they started early. I also got the VIN from the website, and the dealer finally gave me the MSRP earlier this week.

Thanks

snowsedan- when I checked Owner's circle last week, my status changed to In production even as the Estimated date shows as 9/5. I called my salesman and he said that the car went in production last week and confirmed it by calling BMWNA and said it went into production 8/27 .

Tyler-Thanks. My status hasn't yet changed so I guess the production process starts tomorrow. Since I ordered in early July, another day won't kill me.

Good luck with your new ride!

snowsedan- I ordered last week of July. You might want to call BMWNA to check the status of your car but giving your production number. You mentioned that you also have a VIN assigned, so it must also be in production.

What did you order?

Thanks

I ordered the '04 325xi with manual transmission, jet black exterior with sand leatherette interior, sport package, premium package, upgraded stereo, winter package (I need a split rear seat so my fishing poles fit in the car, and figured what the hell, warm seats ain't bad either), NAV system. Pretty much everything but the Xenons, which didn't seem that important to me though others seem to really love them.

How 'bout you?

Tyler-Took your advice and spoke with a rep at BMW USA. Gave them my VIN, and it turns out the car was produced yesterday! MY BABY'S BEEN BORN!!

Now the question is how much of a freak am I going to be. I read a post somewhere that you can track the car as it's shipped to the US. Do you know anything about that?
