Ok i have a problem, someone who shall remain nameless... hehehe... was trying to wash my... erm his car and he got the outside even the black hand prints on the inside of the roof, but when i, *cough* he tried cleaning the car seats he left the leather cleaner on too long and it ate right through the car seat!!! now the leather has turned green and nobody will repair it, they say the entire seat needs to be repaired! or else the paint wont match (my question is how can they be sure the seat will match the rest of the car? if they can then whats the dif. in matching that one piece to the rest of the seat!??!) anyway the dealership suggests a new seat, but thats $3,000.00 of which i have... roughly....49 cents! so any suggestions? i was thinking of using one of those kits that used to repair ripped leather, it makes a same color patch above the rip so i was gonna put the patch above the worn leather what do you think? if you want pictures i can get those too...

ACK! [slap]

Two suggestions...

1. Junk yard for another seat

2. Sheepskins possibly?

I agree, almost anyone will want to recover the entire seat, especially with the condition that you described.

Check out leatherique.com . I have not used the products but have heard good things. The web site is a little confusing, but they have products including dyes that might do the trick. You just have to plow through the site to find the info. They also list dealers/service centers and there are a bunch in Florida:

If you go this way let us know how things work out!!

im gonna try my patch, its a small area not very big, so if that doesnt work ill try the leather site, thanks though! very useful! as for the product, i found it at discount auto parts, to be honest now i cant remember the name but it was brand name the problem was i tried it in a discreet place it worked so i put it all over the seat and started cleaning at the top, by the time i got to the bottome the leather was gone...

sheepskin seats! Name that leather cleaner so the rest of us don't make the same mistake. I sometimes get lazy and just go to the local autoparts store and buy a known brand too. I'd like to know which one to avoid.

My other BMW is an 89 E30 cab and I had to replace the drivers seat a few years ago and I had the work done at Davis Automotive Interiors in Jacksonville (904-743-2242). Ask for Bob.

What I learned from him was that just about all OEM car seats use seat covers that are stretched over the metal frame. It was so reasonable that I had a the two fronts including headrest, and the back seat done in leather and it cost a little over two grand. Your biggest problem will be matching to the dye lot of the orginal interior. It may be off slightly

There is also a place in Tampa or Clearwater where you can buy OEM interior parts but I can't find the name.
