ATF Level

I just want to double check something. When checking the ATF level there is 2 lines on the stem, i checked mine when it was cold and the level was at the first (lowest) line. Is this what it is supposed to be? Does the level rise when hot?

aloha , yes your fluid will rise when warm .All the vehicles I've had tell you to check your ATF fluid with the car running and warmed up ..however I'm a new BMW owner and would suggest you check your manual because I don't want to give you bad info ..
