auto shift knob

I need to replace the shift knob on my automatic 330ci. Any tips on performing this without damage? Appreciate any advise.

Assuming it is the same as on my 2001 325i sedan, you have to pull up on the shifter knob like a mo fo! It takes a bit of strength, so be ready when it finally somes off!!

When I replaced the knob on my transmission (standard, though), rather than try to yank off the old knob the mechanic took a large pair of pliers/vice grips and squeezed the knob until it cracked and came right off. Putting the new knob on was much easier since it just snapped in...

I'm not sure if your knob is similar, but it worked for me!
