Automatic Tranny Fluid Replacement

I'm not sure if anyone has tackled this issue yet , but what mileage would be ideal to change the automatic transmission fluid on e46's? BMW says 100,000, but I think its crap, just like how they suggest BMW owners to change their engine oil at 15,000 mile intervals. Any feedback would be great, negative or positive! Thanks guys!

I am planning to change the fluid well before 100K miles. I don't trust the long service interval for the trannys. At 100K miles the car is out of warranty and BMW makes a bundle on a replacement tranny. The old recommendation (before free maintenance) from BMW was 30K mile change intervals. My 1989 had 126K miles on the original automatic using approximately 30 - 40K mile fluid and filter change intervals.

I think 30k would be a good interval ..
