Hello
Whats the cheapest way to go about coding the lights that come on in the vehicle. My check engine light came on and i just want to know whats the best way to get a read on it and see whats wrong without actually going to the dealership. Any suggestions. For the older models i know you can step on the gas pedals when the ignition is on and it will give you a series of beeps/flashes with the engine light that tells you what is wrong with the car.

Don't think Auto Zone has expanded to Calgary as yet. But God Bless them if they have.

You have an OBDII port, under the dash I think (your owners manual will show you for sure), that a diagnostic reader plugs into. Here in the US they have a free service at the Auto Zone auto parts chain where they plug into it and read the code for you (just like you are asking for). Maybe there is a similar service up there in the Arctic.

If not you may be forced to buy the device Zchild refers to, or take it to the stealership along with a months pay.

just get yourself 6 coils inlet and outlet cam sensors and a few o2 sensors and be sure the gas cap is tight and that should do it
Your so right its not even funny thats exactly what it was. Ne ways fixed the cam sensors. Changing the 02 sensor too. I think i need the tool though to forestall this wasteful paying for them to code the problem
