If I disconnect my battery to install the satalite radio transmitter in the trunk, will the entire car need to be reprogrammed- as in all the settings of the OBC, Homelink, daytime running lights, etc??

Anyone have any experience with a disconnect of the battery?

Thanks.

I had my battery disconnected in my X5 for hours when I replaced it myself. I lost radio station settings and that was it!!!!

I think an ABS light came on also when I started it for the first time with the new battery but it went away soon after I drove away. I heard this is normal.

I thought you're only supposed to disconnect the negative side of the battery when doing this work.....at least that's what the Bentley manual had me do when I was working with the gas tank and when I replaced my turning stalk (which required taking off the steering wheel and air bag and all). I only lost the time, date, trip o, etc.

Did you completely disconnect the battery?

I think the negative side is sufficient for the work he is performing also.....I had mine all the way off when I replaced it.....obviously. I did it like this: negative off first, positive off second....positive on first, negative on second.
