Beep Coming from Dash?

Recently, it seems like there are beeps coming from the dashboard.

It sounds almost like a cell phone 'voicemail waiting' beep, but even
after turning off all cell phones, and everythign else, the beep still
happens.

It's not constant, but happens every 10 minutes or so.

I don't think it's a squeek from things moving, as it definitely sounds
electronic.

There are no warning lights visible on the dash.

Very strange. Has anyone else come across this?

I am not sure about the e46, but the e36s have a little 'memo' button on the OBC that will beep at you every 15 minutes if the button is on. It sounds like that is your issue.

Could be the temp warning beep on the E46's. When the temp reaches 37 degrees it will beep then 37 degrees will be flashing in the odbc area then the flashing will stop and the temp will stay displayed. This is a heads up that the temp outside is getting close to freezing....

This could be the culprit....

*EDIT* word typo....

Or if those are not the problem you might have a miniture beeper hiding in your dash? JK, I believe that one of the two options offered is most likely the issue you describe. Did you get it?

The freezing road beep is pretty loud in comparison, this is more
of a muted beep. Maybe I'm just going insane? :)

I don't recall a 'memo' function in the manual.

OK, I've narrowed the 'beep' down to occurring when the steering
wheel is slowly turning or when the brakes are applied.

It happens randomly, and cannot be reproduced at will.
