Hi all,

Hope you can help!

I have a 320d. Getting lots of black smoke coming out of the exhaust when going up and hill or under heavy acceleration.

Acceleration is also flat.

I've clean the EGR valve and PCV. Done an oil change and changed the air, fuel and oil filters.

Any idea what I can check guys?

Thanks

Shaun

black smoke

Correct me if I am wrong, but 320D like diesel?

After many miles, it is common for diesel engines to produce black smoke under load. It is typically related to the injectors - instead of a pin-hole, you get more fuel, thus more unburn.

It sounds like it is an injector problem to meanyway... but I am no expert!

Good luck

yes diesel
injectors dont all go at the same time. they do get clogged and they do go out of spec as you say ...its a slow process...they last a long long time. first signs lumpy idle.
