BMW Logo Chipped away like dry paint

I noticed yesterday that the BMW logo on my hood had flaked away like dry paint. As if the blue, white and black paint had chipped off. The metal piece or emblem is still there, just all silver now, except one piece of blue paint.

I have a 01' 325ci. Is not very old, and the clear coat on the car is in great shape.

I looked around the car for evidence of attempted theft of the logo. No signs of any forced removal of the logo. Only thing I can think of is the intense Florida sun may be the culprit.

This happens just days prior to my lease end and delivery of my new 04' 325i. I'm affraid they are gonna charge me big time for this.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Is it common? Do you think it was from the intense Florida heat?

The Roundels do chip and fade with time and depending on the exposure to the elements. They are easily replaced and cost only about $12.00 from PelicanParts.com. Do not forget to get replacement grommets, you will need two. Takes about five minutes to replace.

$12 bucks...thats all. Okay i feel better now. I don't know if I will have time and a chance to replace before I turn it in. They will probably deduct $200 on my trade I bet. Thanks for the info Big Daddy...

I have an '01 X5 and the roundels on it look like new. My '04 roundels look new (they'd better too). Both my BMWs are garage kept, but have seen plenty of the FL sun as well.

My 01' 325c is garaged kept, and so will my 04' be garaged kept. Its when I go to work all day -- completely exposed to the elements. I wonder if applying wax to it would help protect it.
