Not sure about any resources other than google to search for shops but if you are looking for an alternative to the dealerships there is a really good BMW/Merc shop close to Austell/Thorton road - Shannon(yes Shannon) is the guy's name, really cool guy who knows his bimmers. I just started using him a couple of months ago and so far I'm very happy with his work, if you're interested in checking him out let me know

Check out Performing Imports in Alpharetta - I doubt they'll be that much cheaper but could still be an option http://www.performingimports.com/index.htm
I have looked at the bimmernav kit as well and plan on getting it - should make for a nice project one weekend. I would just get the bluetooth kit - the bmw assist comes with services that you have to subscribe to, then again if you want all the extras then you really have no choice

I use a place called Pro-formance place. It is on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna. It is run by a very nice man named Reggie. He does all his own work and the place is immaculate. He has been in business for 16 years and was a mechanic at Jim Ellis Porsche. He only does work on BMW's and Porsche.

german car shop in Dekalb

There is a shop on Hugh Howell Road near the intersection with Mountain Industrial. A friend takes his Mercedes there and has been very please with the work. I will post the name of the shop, as I can't recall the name at this time, as soon as I find out what it is. (over 40, cant remember sh**.)
