BMW's excellent bumpers

BMW's quality build has just saved my ass, or the dumbasses that ran into me...depending on how you look at it. Within the past month, some old lady in a p.o.s. mustang backed up into me, even though I honked like hell when i saw that she was getting close...she didn't even look back. Being the first time I was in an accident with my car, I thought for sure I'd have at least some dents, scratches, and or dings. Turns out it didn't even make a mark on the front of my car. I didn't even see any marks on the bumper!
As if that weren't enough, about a week ago I was on a ramp when some lady in a geo prism "thought I went" and proceeded to rear end me on the ramp. This time there were faint marks on the bumper, but you can hardly see them. Again, nothing major. Big ups to the BMW engineers for dummy proof bumpers, well at least dummy resistent bumpers!

does anyone know how much it cost to replace a pumper? everytime i go up my drive way i have to go over a pump and it total scrapes under neath the bumper.

Do you guys know what im talking about, you know those big curves on your driveway so water travels down them until it reaches the sewer or whatever. mine is very steep, and i hate going over it EvErYtImE ...

You have to take those on an extreme angle. It's the only way to not scrape.

The BMW bumpers might be strong for stuff like that...... But when it comes to someone with a bent up license plate with screws sticking out, if they touch the bumper you've got a deep mark. BTW, when that woman backed into you it was the front license plate holder that saved you. As for the Geo rearending you, I would have made the idiot pay for the marks on the bumper or threatened to call the police if they refused.

Yeah, I agree...BMW bumpers are pretty sweet. Last week I was driving on Hollywood Blvd (always a treat once tourist season starts). This Range Rover pulls out of a parking spot without looking, signaling and of course on the cell phone. I had enough time to stop and wait as he pulled away from the curb.....as I look in my rearview mirror, I see this A-hole in his awesome brown Taurus [;)] , on the cell phone charging toward me. I put my foot hard on the break, rested my head against the head rest and braced myself. He slammed on his brakes when he realised I was stopped....oh that horrible screaching noise...then BAM he slammed into me. We both pulled over, and OMG...not a scratch, dent, bump on my bumper. Amazing. Tip...don't cell phone while driving!!!

And go as slow as possible where the steep part is. If you go fast, the shocks get compressed when you hit the bump and cause the car to get lowered temporarily which causes the bumper to hit.
