I was cleaning out the trunck ans discovered a little bit of rust under the battery tray. After removing the protective coating I found out I had 3 holes that shouldn't be there and the whole area underneath the battery tray was ruster and the seam on the outside where the valance pannel and the fender are welded together.

The only cure that will last is to cut all the rust out and weld in a new (used in good condition) piece from a donor car. That is not an uncommon problem because most people never remove their battery and clean out that area, thereby allowing the acid to build up.

Ive gone in already and removed all of the loose metal and began to sand the rust and ther when im finished with that I think I might sandblast whats left then rust reform it. After I finish that all up im going to patch all the holes with fiberglass and do a 1/4" layer over the bottom.

I would STRONGLY urge you to consider using POR15 instead of just a regular fiberglas kit from the local auto parts store. Simply put, the fiberglas kit fix it for a year or two, rust will come back and now you have another mess.

I have used POR15 and THIS STUFF WORKS! The "secret" is the chemicals and type of paint they supply. They have a fiberglas sheet kit to patch the holes, BUT it uses their special paint instead of fiberglas resin. Their system neutralizes the rust and seals the metal so that moisture cannot start rusting it again. A regular fiberglas kit WILL NOT do that.

Read up on how and why their stuff is better. I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer!!

They make a floor pan/trunk kit. This is what I have used:

My dad was telling me about that stuff, but can you buy it from anywhere else besides the mfg site?

Take kirby's advice. Por15 is AMAZING stuff - i never had to use it on my own cars but it's amazing non-the-less. if it's good enough for boats in salt water, it should be fine for your car.
