Brake job parts....

So a friend of mine said he'd do a brake job on my 1990 325i if I bought the parts. The brakes seem fine, but I'm guessing the loud screeching noise when I stop is a sign they need to be replaced. Do I just buy four sets of pads and four rotors? Are the cross drilled ones worth it? Any suggestions on who to buy from?

Thanks in advance for any information. I'm the guy that bought the car almost sight unseen for $2,200 three or so months ago and was asking for advice here. I love the car, but it's still got some minor issues.

Find out what the loud screech is before just replacing your pads. You can look at the pads and see how much pad material is left. You may just have a rock caught in your brakes or you are on metal to metal. Did your brake pad wear indicator lamp come on? It may or may not be working either.

Do not buy rotors unless you need them, ie: they are worn thin or warped. Cross drilled rotors are not the best for street use. They warp and crack easily. The best upgrade for your car would be slotted rotors and do not buy no name brands. You want ATE or Zimmerman, etc. You also need two brake pad sensors to replace your old ones.
