Brake light issues -97 328I

I am going crazy. My brake lights are constantly going out. A guy showed me a trick of scaping the connections and that seems to work for a while, but they always end up going out. I can't figure out if it's electrical or if it's condensation getting inside and corroding the connections??? Anyone have any experience in this?

Assuming there were no E30's in 1997, you should probably post this in the E36 forum.

Are you using nickel based lamps or brass? BMW's do not like American brass, convert to nickel and that may help.
