Brake noise

I'm posting this for a woman I work with.

She has a 2003 330 xi. Since the car was about 6 months old, the brakes have made noise. She has recieved no satisfaction from the dealeror BMW NA and has actually hired a lawyer to help her. I told her I'd post here to see if anyone had any helpful ideas.

She has been told that she doesn't drive aggressively enough or brake hard enough. That sounds ridiculous. She was told to drive each morning with her feet on the brake and accelerator for a short distance--huh? [screwy]

Even a BMW field tech or whatever has looked at the car.

Any similar experiences out there? Any recommendations.

I can't believe they wouldn't have replaced the brakes-pads/rotors whatever. How could they expect her to buy another car??? Glad it's not my dealer; it's far north in the Chicago burbs, but I won't say where.

Are these the original pads and rotors? Have they been replaced with other than stock. Most high performance pads will squeek when cold and need to be heated up, however if these are the originals they need to be examined to determine why they are squeeking.

Tell her to take it to another dealer. They can perform the work under warranty, it doesn't have to be the place you bought the car. I switched where I get my work done after a rash of thefts from cars that were there for service.

If a car is not driven a lot, the rotors can gather a light
coating of rust.

If her commute to work is only 2-3 miles each way, this
could be the case.
