I have an 86 325, I need to do a brake job and I need some advise on which pads to go with. I have looked at EBC green or red stuff, I have looked at Metal masters, and Hawks. I want realy good brakes for autocross, and a couple track days a year. I am a college student so I am looking for most bang for the buck... What are your suggestions?

For autocross only, I would say that EBCs are the way to go. For street and autocross I would recommend the Hawks. Leave the AXXIS MetalMasters for the street only catagory.

I would say the EBCs, especailly if you are going to street it. They creat little dust. I would get a slotted rotor to keep the pads clean to help the initial bite, the Greenstuffs do like to be a bit warm.

Also the Greenstuffs make a little noise, so spread some anti-seize on the back of the pads when you put them in.

A little late I know.. but I swear by Pagid. I have their basic street pad, and I've driven, shall we say, enthusiastically, without noticeable fade. They also make a racing pad, which is supposed to grab even better.

I have PBR Metalmasters and ATE power rotors. Little dust, good combo for the street and an occasional driving school. They are not for a lot of serious track work. The metalmasters last quite well. Mine last 40-60K miles and are cheap at about $32-35 per axle. When I saw Will Turner earlier this month I asked what he thought of the EBC pads he said they are great for motorcycles but he would not use them on his car. They are not for heavier cars.

Hey Guys thanks for the info, I finaly decided on the EBCs. I just installed them and they grab like nothing I have ever felt. I need to get some better tires on the car to take full advantage of the breaking force. Its a good thing I have ABS because I would be flatspotting a lot of tires. I like good brakes over lots of horse power. What can I say I am a confused 20 year old that appriceates the odd things in life.

Thanks again for all of your input, next time I might try the pagid, that was my second choise.
