Gents and Ladies, I just did a brake job on my 2000 323i, I upgraded to discs to the Zimmerman Cross Drilled and upgraded the pads to Pagid, additionally I changed out the front and rear sensors. Approximately on e wekk after I started getting a brake squeal a slow speeds during braking. It happens when braking a low speeds only. There is no marking on the new discs of abnormal wear or unusual markings. Has anyone expierenced this phenomenon, and if so how can it corrected within reason?[eek]

brakes

I have not experienced it directly with a BMW, but it sounds like typical squeeling with aftermarket brake pads. It is pretty normal specially on these lifetime warrenty pads becasue they uses more metal then EOM pads to prolong the wear life, this causes some squelling sometimes. I'd say drive it as is for a month or so and possibly when they break in and wear to the rotor the noise will work its way out. You may want to uses some sort of anti-sqeeul on the back of the pads where they touch the caliper. Keep an eye on the pads and rotors an dbe sure they are wearing normal. If the noise does not go away then switch pads back to OEM or a softer material. Good luck

I agree with olcrazy1. I have fought on and off with this problem on my Volvo for years. The pads vibrate rapidly and cause that squeal. Sometimes it goes away, sometimes the anti-squeal gel works, sometimes you have to wire brush the calipers to remove ALL the dirt, rust etc.

I know it's a pain, "I have been to the mountain, brother!", but you may need to do all of the above to make it go away......

No Jonnyz16, I did not, I must say I didn't think of it at the time. Is it something I can apply after the fact, after the horse has left the barn so to speak?

You need to put a film of gel BETWEEN the pad mounting surfaces and caliper, so you must disassemble everything to do it correctly. As I mentioned, it's a good idea to clean up any dirt or surface rust before applying the gel.
