Anyone have advice on getting the best brakes for your buck?
ATE? GIRLING? high perf?
Does the ABS system effect which calipers/pads/rotors you buy?

thanks

the stock brakes are awsome none the less, with some nice tires that stick. Im buying ATE's or Brembo's prolly ATE's cause they are cheaper and I want Aluminium control arms more than brakes that cost more than my car, if anything get the ATE with a Wilwood Caliper of your choice (me, superlite 6piston but :) thats me) not tooo expensive, i dont think you can go wrong there,

I purchased some Pagid replacement pads for my front end, and they do the job well. But I have found one common thing with all brake pads, is that the good ones are the ones that leave plenty of dust that has to be hosed off once a week... but I think the pagid pads I got were like 30 or 40 dollars.

I just bought brembo rotors. I am gs slotting those, and I am going to try the EBC green stuff pads, i have heard good things about tese pads so my expectations are high. Then I will wrap up my project with ATE super blue fluid and steel brake lines.

well here is the deal. calipers are really really expensive. what stops your car are pads and tires pretty much. but what stops your car, then stops it again with no fad, are slotted and/or cross drilled rotors, good calipers, good pads, good tires, and good lines. zimmermann rotors are a good deal, and brembo rotors can be found at a decent price as well. brembo calipers will, however, require a second morgage. as for pads, well i don't know much about pads. ebc greenstuff are regarded as awesome pads, pagid are so so. vlad mentioned hawk pads are great and have minimal dust.

of note, BMW comes with AWESOME oem brakes, so don't cop out for a cool looking rotor.

just my $0..01 (yes, only one cent)
