I've noticed something about upgrades with these cars. I hear about getting performance chips, suspension upgrades, bars, air intake and etc... but I never hear much about calipers....I heard that the stock bmw calipers are very good on these cars, and seems to me there are much more widespread options for rotors/pads and not the calipers. Is looking into new calipers worth the time and money? or is it better just to get nice rotors and pads and spend the money on other things to upgrade?

Ireland Engineeing has a couple big brake kits for the e30, how ever witht the right pads and rotors, e30s have amazing brakes for street and track. I use slotted rotors and EBC greenstuff pads and upgraded to Stainless Steel lines. I went to my local roadcourse and ran the car hard for half an hour before the brakes even started to fade! I was impressed! The only reason I can see to put biger brakes on is if you were making 300+ h.p. and racing. Other than that maximise the stock brake parts and you will be impressed.

Heres a link to the kit

Thanks for the tip...how do stainless steel brake lines help?
As typical rubber brake hoses age a little, the brake lines will swell a little allowing some of the brake pressure to be absorbed by the brake lines themselves. The inner lining of the typical braided brake hose is supposed to assist in reducing this from happening. the braided part of the hose is designed to protect the inner parts of the hose.

The drawback is that braided brake hoses are more delicate when it comes time to replace the brake hoses. If the hose is stretched or bent un-naturally, damage could happen to the inner lining.
