Breaking it in

Congrats on the car. Checkout your owners manual for more detailed information, but it basically goes like this:
Don't go over 4,000rpm for the first 1,200 miles. Don't mash on the brakes during this time and don't do any crazy turns yet (tires and brakes need to brake in just like the engine).

The 2.5 engine doesn't really have a break-in period, (this was directly from BMW dealer) you can do whatever you want with it once the engine is warm.

I know, i'v read that in the manual.
It says to keep it under 4500 rpm for 2000 km (1250 miles),
but the thing is, my dealer told me 1000-1500 km was enough.

Naturally, i'm more inclined to take the word of the manual, but i thought i'd ask the opinion of expert BMW enthusiasts here... [:)]

Are u sure ?

Can anyone comment as to how reliable this info is ?
