how much does it cost to replace a broken windshield?

i had a rock hit my window last night and the crack is right in my line of sight ...

the crack is about 1/2 - 3/4 inch wide

Look in the yellow pages for mobile windshield repair, if you get it fixed before it starts spreading, you won't have to replace the whole windshield......they work really well......that usually costs about $50.00 for that size crack.........

Glass is covered 100% by your insurance with no deductible. Have it fixed that way.

MyHarley, I have never heard of repairing a crack before. Am I the only one living in a cave on this one?

Fixing windshield cracks has been going on in my area for maybe 5 years or so. I have never needed it, but others have told me it works. MyHarley is right, get it done ASAP so it doesn't lengthen with heat, stress, etc.

If you do replace the windshield, make sure you get a BMW OEM and not a cheap replacement. I have no proof, but from experience with a Volvo, I think that the OEM windshield is better quality than a cheap $150 replacement.

its big business in Houston.......by the time I trade in a car, there are probably four or five fixes to the windshield that have been done.......even small rock chips can be fixed....but if you wait and it starts spreading, its all over......I know there are guys in Beaumont that can do this, not sure exactly where you are...........
