Okay, I have a few questions, just thought I'd ask all at once. I have a 2000 323i.

1. I'll need new tires soon, what are your recommendations? I don't need high performance, something year round, we get a lot of rain!

2. Brakes- I have 25% left on fronts, 65% left on rears. When should I change the front brake pads?

3. Last week I was driving in the rain (surprise surprise being in Vancouver) on the highway at about 140km/h. When I pressed down on the accelerator, I could here a whistling sound somewhere near the rear of the car. Is this normal?

Thanks all.

One more...I remember a link that was posted that showed the assembly of a 3 series, starting from the rolled steel ending in the finished car. Cool vid...anyone have that link?

1. alot of members like Michelin. I have Continentals and they seem ok . Do a search for tires on this board.

2. I'm not a liscensed mech but would say get ready to do a front brake job in the near future. The rears will be alright .Your fronts do most of the work due to weight transfer while braking .

3. Did you have your flaps set ? lol

no vid link sorry .

I also own a 2000 323i, I have personally ran the Dunlop SP/5000 with the OE 16" rims and I am now running the Perelli P-Zero's because I have upgraded to 18" wheels. I suggest you do a comparision at TireRack.com to select the best overall tire to suit your driving conditions, and wallet. I just did a brake job, front and rear including rotors, pads and sensors. The job was relatively easy with the right tools, it took about 4 hours to do the entire job front and rear, I am just an amateur mechanic. As for the whistling in the rear, I have heard that sound before in the rain, however it was in the rain and extremely high winds. I hope this answers some of your questions... Happy motoring...

Yes I agree that the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S are great all-season ultra high performance tires. They are rated higher than the Michelins. Although, the Michelins Pilot Sport A/S aren't to shaby either; only if you have deep pockets though. For the value and performance, you can't beat the Pirellis. HH

What, your dealer wasn't rotating your brake pads when they rotated your tires? [:p]

Pzero Nero M+S, Sumitomo HTR+, or Continental ContiExtreme Contact for all season traction

Allright, alot of PZero Nero folks, I thought I was alone here among an ocean of P1's and Eagles.. [rolleyes] [:D]

goto www.tirerack.com for all your tire questions. Any tire you're looking at will have a host of comments from owners, so you can get an idea from them how tires rate. Their ratings scale is pretty accurate too, compare the ones you like best!
