Can I get a BMW version of Distronic?

Mercedes has thing option where the cruise control uses a radar to stay a certain feet back from the car in front of you. The cruise control will adjust even braking the car up to 20% to stay x feet away.

Can I get something like this for my M?

You'd have to ask the dealer when it comes out. If it's possible, I imagine it'll cost about $2000 at least to do it. Different parts are more easily retrofitted than others. Distronic includes adding a radar sensor on the car. Depending on where BMW decides to mount it, you may have to replace a body panel or bumper or something which drives up the cost. That's also if the car's computer can be changed to also show the cruise control info. For example, you can retrofit the new LED tail lights on cars up as old as a 2002 (older ones need an extra computer part of some kind), but no one has yet been able to get the adaptive braking to work on the lights since the computer won't accept the change.

Basically, I wouldn't hold your breath on it.

I hope the radar doesnt mess up my radar detector. That thing has saved me from so many tickets. Plus it lets you find out how fast you can slow down from 140.

If you want it on a Mercedes, it's a $3,000 option. Pretty cool feature, but as a $3,000 standalone option (not even part of a package), that's WAY too much.

Yea was looking at it when I was putitng together a CLK55 AMG.

They've got the driver recognition crap on it, which is awesome.. you don't even need the key to start the car, much less get in it.

and the suede headliner, mmmmmmm. Lots and lots of power.

Just get the mercedes. Mercedes is more luxurious and bmw is more sport, i would get the mercedes

the 5 series has active cruise control (aka diptronic) and i think it'll be standard on all the new cars within a year or two

Some of us have no desire to "turn heads"....
