Car Cover Question

Hi mates,

I have a 2004 330Ci and I just have to say that it is one fine car! Anyways, I live in a college apartment complex and my car is parked out in the open for the majority of the year. Hence, I was thinking of purchasing the car cover that BMW sells as an accessory to protect my car from weather, etc... I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with these car covers, whether you've purchased one in the past or know of someone with one? I would like to know of their quality and if they scratch the car everytime you put them on or take them off the vehicle. Any experiences/opinions will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome Hosagod, I have the Noah cover and it works very well. No scratches whatsoever. The only drawback is that it's pretty pricey, another option you can try is purchasing a cheaper brand from walmart. It doesn't work as well, but it will protect your car from UV rays and bird droppings. Either way, I would definately recommend getting a cover when parking your car outside.

I had a cheaper one. Too much of a pain to use everyday. Plus, it didn't feel all that soft to me so I worried about scratches (was for one of my cheaper cars). For the BMW, I'd spend the extra cash for the Noah cover.

I see your point, the Noah cover is a "triple fabric layer" so I guess it will be soft and scratch-resistant. Sometimes I don't need to drive for 2-3 days so the car cover will come in handy alot. I'm gonna go to the dealership today and have a look at it and probably just purchase it...thanks for your comments guys.

The more expensive covers will be more durable and more weather resistant. However, all name-brand car covers, including the cheap ones, are made of a material that will not scratch the paint. (I just got this information by a customer service rep of a car cover manufacturer.)

Personally, I recently picked up a car cover for $20 from Walmart. It does what I need it to do (protection from tree sap), has a two year warranty, fits fine, and was practically free.
