When i was in school, i found a place in town that basically supplied me with the hose and water, and then i brought my own cleaning supplies....as opposed to goin thru their auto car washes....

Mallards, wait till it rains next time and get some soap and wash your car in the rain :) I've done that before...

When I was living in an apartment thirty years ago, I used to go to a do-it-yourself spray carwash with a bucket, car shampoo, sponge, and chamois. I made it a point to go when it wasn't crowded in order to take my time without irritating those waiting to wash their cars. I would rinse the car and fill up the bucket with water/shampoo. After washing it with the sponge, I'd put in a few more quarters and rinse the car. Then I would find a shady spot nearby and dry the car. At times, it became a pain, but it was better than running it through an automatic carwash.
