carbon monoxide detector in BMW?

Tonight I drove into my garage, turned off the car and quickly went inside my house. I noticed a fairly large cloud of exhaust next to the car when I got out, but didn't think anything of it. About 45 minutes later I got back into the car to go out again and noticed that all the windows were down! Is there a CO detector in the car that automatically puts the windows down if levels get too high? I'm pretty sure the garage door was open the whole time and it has never happened before.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Only thing I can think of here is you accidentally were pressing the "unlock" button on the key fob, which if pressed constantly will lower all your windows and open your sunroof if you have one. This could even have happened while inside the house depending on the range of your fob (which seems to vary from year to year). I, and others on here, have unknowingly pressed buttons opening the trunk for instance. I have never had the windows feature kick in unknowingly though.

Maybe?

That sounds reasonable. I accidentally hit the trunk release all the time. I went into the garage and held the button and sure enough, the driver's window went down after a couple of seconds and all the others followed a second later. Unfortunately, I couldn't get them to go back up using the key (unlock or lock button).

They won't go back up. Not in America. The only way to get them all up with your key is to actually stick it into the lock, and then turn and hold. I forget which direction. In any case, you can't do it with the buttons. Some stupid safety feature prolly that a BMW lawyer wanted.
