Cat Problems

I have a 91 318i, and recently my cat started making alot of noise. Now my car feels like it`s boggin out. Very noticable change in my power. Is it possible that the cat is plugging my exhaust pasageway. I`ve heard if you plug the exhaust the car will die. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Cat is on order, hopefully when i change it my problem will be solved.

How does the cat make noise? Is it whistling or something? Or does it rattle when you tap on it? I raised an eyebrow at this post..

well yeah it will, if the car can't exhaust its gases, it can't run. I had a similar problem on my car, i just removed the cat all together and straight piped it. Mine never made any noises tho......

No, it`s a really loud rattling noise, something is definattly loose inside. It`s not always consistant.

replace the cat.
