got my first bimmer. 325 CiC 2001 with only 12,000 mi. steel gray, cold and premium package, and steptronic. i can't believe they manufactured it without a CD player. so i am going to install a changer.
any suggestions on an aftermarket changer? i have the harmon kardon stereo, and i want to be able to play mp3's, cdr's, rw's. i have been looking at the alpine s634. will i have problems fitting the mounting bracket into the trunk? i am also worried about the trunk panel fitting a non factory changer.

the dealer wants about $850 to install it. i figure half that would be good.

i appreciate the help. i need to get this done soon - music on the radio is killing me.

Ouch, don't pay that much. Go to www.Crutchfield.com, enter your car specs, and then select the link in the middle of the page that shows changer options for your car. It will have all the electronic parts you need.

After you do that, go to www.bavauto.com and look for the installation kit for the changer. Once again, enter your car specs and it will tell you which one you need.

You will end up paying about $400 to $450 probably. It will be even less if you buy the changer off of ebay. I got my CHA S634 for $200 new off ebay.

You can also follow the DIY at www.bmw325i.net

Good luck and don't use a dealer. This is an easy install.

Your car should be prewired. No reason to do it at the dealer. Even going to an aftermarket shop, it'll still be hundreds cheaper than the dealer.
