ceramic vs. metallic tint

Hey guys... I am thinking about getting my 330CI tinted, but I have no clue as to what is good or bad. I've read about the tints and know that there are two types of tint, ceramic or metallic. I was wondering which one would be better? Thanks.

I think there's only one ceramic tint. Huper.

Basically, metallic is nice cuz it rejects heat more than non-metallic films. Downside is they affect reception from radio/cell phones/radar detectors/etc. Plus, they have that weird shimmery look.

Ceramic was developed to basically surpass the performance of metallic tint, yet without any of the disadvantages. It's main problem is cost. Stuff is expensive.

Yeah...I'm considering ceramic because metallic may cause interference to my XM antenna which is mounted on my rear deck. So far Huper was the only ceramic I have found -- not ready to spend that kinda dough though.

talk with the installer and try to negotiate thier prices. got Huper on my sedan for a little over 225 after taxes. considering their "premium" metallic based tints were only about 30-40 cheaper, it was well worth it. you'll be amazed how efficient your A/C system operates afterwards. the stuff is the real deal.......try V-Kool if you want a clear look.

V-Kool is metallic though. I love both. V-Kool is great for avoiding tint tickets (if your state has such laws). But, it's got that weird shimmery look so you can still tell there's tint there at certain angles.

Found a local Huper Optik dealer in Orlando -- His price is $250 -- doesn't look like they negotiate. Gonna have to pay the extra in order to get a ceramic based tint to avoid XM antenna interference

$250 sounds like a great price. How many windows is that for? I paid $275 for the back 3 windows (two of them are kinda small too) and was quoted $375 for all 5.
