Changing Flat Tire

Went out to my car on Saturday and found I had a flat tire. So I got out the full size spare and jack and proceeded to replace the tire. When I got the car up and the bolts off I couldn't remove the wheel! Being the first time I changed a tire on a BMW I was apprehensive there was something other than the bolts holding it on. Called the dealership and they knew exactly what my problem was. The aluminum wheel was rusted fast. They suggested using a rubber mallet. I tried sitting on my a** and kicking the wheel loose but that didn't work. Luckily I had a sledgehammer and folded up a towel and it still took four wacks before the wheel popped off! Has everyone else experienced this?! If I would have been somewhere other than my house I probably would have had to call a service station! I am thankful that I wasn't somewhere along a road. So my question is, is there some lubricant I can use to alleviate this? I am now going to remove all the wheels this weekend just to make sure they all come off. [scream]

You could call roadside or you could loosen the lugs slightly and drive SLOWLY while turning the vehicle back and forth. The weight of the vehicle helps loosen the tire.

PB Blaster works great. It would have helped with the first wheel, but spray some on the other hubs and lugs to make removal easier and prevent it from happening in the future.
