I have a quick question. If I buy a 330ci with the aluminum trim and want to change it to the wood trim, could I still do that. How much would it cost and where would I get it. Thanks.

Wood or aluminum trim?

I can understand wanting the wood trim, I've seen it first hand; I really like the way that it looks. I haven't seen the aluminum trim, what is it about the aluminum trim that is appealing?

I was dead set on wood trim, but now maybe the alumimun is something I might prefer.

I agree with Blue. The 3 is not a wood car. Black leather with aluminum trim looks awesome. [headbang]
Wood looks great in a sand interior, beats the heck outta whatever aluminum or titainum I had originally. In a black interior I would go w/ something lighter too for a better interior color contrast.

Course this is a sedan, in a coupe theres less 'panelling' going on too.

They should make reversible trim. Flip a 007 switch and you got a whole new look. [driving2]

Personally, I prefer wood. I don't have a problem with real brushed aluminum. But plastics pretending to be stainless steel, to me, is cheaper looking than those cars with plastic trying to pretend to be real wood.

I think the wood trim with a gray interior gives
my 330i a more sophisticated interior than aluminum would.

Maybe I would think otherwise for a coupe. [bmwkick]

Not to jack the thread, but hey Section 8...where did you get your wrap for the steering wheel. I've been looking at 'em at the local auto places and they don't look as good as yours.

Must admit, I took a strong liking to the aluminum trim with a black interior in a car I saw and thought I bought, but it was already sold. So I ordered one, since they couldn't find one. It looks sportier than wood. May blend in more with grey, but I think the dash is still black.

Where can I find aluminum trim ?

Is there a site that sells OEM trim ?

And how much would it cost from the dealer to change from wood to aluminum ?

Thanks,

If you want OEM, try pacificbmw.com or circlebmw.com

I don't like wood with a black interior. It's too dark. Needs more contrast. That's why I kept my aluminum. Well, that and it also matched my exterior. Any of the other interiors I prefer the wood cuz it contrasts better with the lighter colors. Aluminum with Sand interior just looks really weird.

I wish there were an easy way to get some of the Individual wood trims. They have some really nice ones, like the Poplar.

Well, at the end of the day, we all have different tastes.

hey, sorry to digress...but with the aluminum trim...has anyone noticed a "cracking" sound when driving? It just kinda moves when you press it and makes that noise....also...does anyone know how it is fastened? does it just snap in? glue?

Sorry for the late reply, life and a new little one have kept me busy recently. It's a 'super big' wrap, I'd have to make a trip to Pep Boys to see who made it, they make a normal one (The little ones that never quite make it all the way around) and their 'super big' one which is thicker and stretches easily to cover the entire wheel. (Don't even really have to stretch, it just wraps all the way around like pie).

I've always put a wrap on my wheels, I prefer a thicker wheel (I got big hands!), this is the nicest one I've found and used yet (Hope I can find it again when this one wears out!)

I did get it at Pep Boys if that helps!
