My '01 325 CI has been having this check engine light coming up for the past month.

Since it has a warranty I took to the Dealership in Dekalb (Atlanta GA) a month ago and after 2 days of investigation it turned out to be the air flow meter which was changed.

The check engine light is backagain for the past 2 weeks.
Took it in today to the dealerhsip at 7:30 am.....Message Read was related to exhaust being too rich in gas...

Could it be the oxygen sensor or maybe the catalytic convertor?

The car has 65,000 miles on it.
Do these 325 CI '01 have these problems?

Issue still going. It is actually " Service Engine Soon".
That is day # 2 at the dealership and problem still not solved.
Message read is that " mixture too rich..." last time it was the air flow meter....

any idea what could it be please?

They already changed that....Would sound like an O2 sensor to me but that really should not be an issue for a dealer to diagnose..right? [???1]
The cat doesn't affect mixture, just emissions, so I'd rule that out.
Is there another dealer you can take the car to?

Just a thought, not a sure thing.

If the fuel pressure regulator in the fuel rail fails, the fuel rail can over-pressurize and "flood" the injectors, the computer will not be able to compensate for this. Have they put a pressure gage on the fuel rail?

I m not sure they did. Probably not as they kept on mentioning the computer.
They reset the system, the light is off but the problem is still there.

Other dealerships are pretty far and my time is pretty tight between work and graduate school:(

I m waiting until they have a loaner next week so i can drop it back off....
I m still thinking it could be an O2 sensor....

Any more feedback appreciates

The Service Engine Soon light is off....was problem of " Mixture Too Rich" still there....

It is a shame that a BMW dealership cannot troubleshoot it in 2 days
