Hi everyone I'm a newbie. I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on my 3 series. It flies usually, but going up hills it really chugs, could it need new spark plugs? xx

Hi Big Daddy, she has 145000 miles on the clock and is probably due a tune-up, ive only had her about 4 months. Thanks for my only reply x

Well a tune up could help, but it could just be because you are driving a inline 4, it will have a little trouble going up hills if you are not at high enough rpms, is it manuel?

Do the tuneup, but consider that you are talking about a 4cyl with an automatic transmission, not the best combination.

As it has been said, a 1.6ltr with an auto box isn't great for going up hills. You should be able to inspect the spark plugs yourself and see what state they are in. When you have a tune up, it may be worth just having the valve clearances checked too.

i'd try some fuel injector cleaner, it does wonders. run a bottle in about 3 tank fulls and see if it runs better.
