The light is almost guaranteed to be an LED. Typical LEDs draw about .025 Amps. So it might run your battery down after about 6 months, if you never use the car. Don't worry about it....

My phone adapter stays hooked up 24/7............never a problem.........actually I have a double adapter.......one for my phone and the other for my heated "blankie"........[rofl] [rofl] [rofl]

Kirby is absolutely right. The LED is the only part of that adapter drawing any current when the phone is not attached. The adapter (besides the LED) draws no current by itself. The phone must be attached for any current to be drawn.

Think of the adapter like a flashlight and the flashlight switch like your cell phone. The flashlight batteries (your car battery) are just sitting there waiting for the switch (your phone) to complete the circuit and start drawing current. The flashlight batts would last a long time (their full shelf life) as long as the switch remained off. Likewise your car battery would last a long time as long as the phone wasn't connected.

Yeah, and if it helps, my dad often leaves his cell phone charging off the car's battery while the car is off, for hours at a time. As long as your battery is new, in decent condition, and has a good/full charge (takes 30-40 minutes to charge the battery fully), you should be fine.
