The Climate controls in my car blow cold air at me at the 91 degrees temp setting, and sometimes instead of defogging the window, it blows downward and defogs my feet. The only time it blows hot air is when defogging the window and sometimes it blows it in the wrong direction...

Anyone know what could be wrong, and what exactly would need replacing???

If it helps, at the same time this happened the fog lights make a click sound when turning them on ( told it was a relay in right side of dash). This all happened after the dealer supposedly tweaked with something and wont tell me what.

Well obviously this is a warranty issue. Take it in to be fixed.

The only thing I can think of that they may have "tweaked" is a reprogramming of the IHKA module (controls climate and other things) that was required for some of our cars because of a battery drain issue. Maybe they screwed up the programming somehow.

Good luck.

I think it might be the Climate controls computer.... Today the snowflake button pressed allowed NO AIR to be blown at me, rather a weak hot flow to the windshield. While turning on the windshield defogger, ended up blowing air downward at my feet. Would this have anything to do with that programing mentioned?

I'm having an issue too, and am wondering if it's just my imagination. When I first got the car (a week ago) I was driving with the top down and it was a bit chilly out (55 degrees or so). I turned up the heat to 91, directed the airflow to my feet and body (disabling the auto feature), turned the temperature wheel between the two center vents to full heat (three red dots), turned off the AC and cranked the blower all the way to maximum power. I could swear I felt a very strong flow of air while driving on the highway.

Now, however, things have changed. I duplicate the settings, and hot air doesn't "blow" any longer... It does come out, and it does warm me, but not like it did that first night I had the car. I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any idea why it would feel weaker now? I feel silly for even asking.

I'm having similar issues with my 1999 323i. I'll turn the heat all the way up to 91 and blow it on the highest setting just to get some warm air. After it's hot enough, I'll turn the temp back down to 70's or 80's but notice it's soon blowing cold air again.

What could be the problem? Could the thermostat have given out? What should I even ask the dealer to look for?

I have no idea, maybe if the dealer is willing to disclose to me what they did, I'd be better able to answer that question. But I will let you know what gets fixed if anything (probably the computer) nothing else. Like bmwrocks said it's probably the IHKA module programming, dealer said they have "in notes to BMWNA all problems I reported and all problems that pop up while its here" I wonder what problem popped up in the service dept anyway, and why they didn't tell me they fixed it. [screwy]
