Does anyone know of any type of chemical flush for a rack and pinion??? I know for a fact that it is clogged... I loosened one of the banjo fittings at the rack, started engine and nothing leaked out... turned the steering wheel while pushing the tire in the opposite direction and got a pop and then fluid shot everywhere...put it all back together...had power steering for about 6 seconds and then it clogged again...just looking for an easy way out of a mess... it only costs around $2.00 for this process, but creates one heck of a mess...SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!![?|]

Have you tried bleeding the system? Air could be trapped. I don't know of aany tyupe of "Draino" for the system.

Good luck

Power steering fluid is ATF

ATF, Automatic Transmission Fluid, is 90% detergent.

Put a drop on the ground and spray it with a hose, it will foam.

I add it to crankcases to clean them up before and oil change.

I have never seen a system service with ATF getting any clogged lines.

The exact opposite is the case, they leak everywhere since no seal is safe.

If you are seeing a clogged system you can only service and remove a line to get fluid movement.

Much like bleeding a steering system, there is no way, self bleeding.

There are no filters on the smaller BMWs.
