Clown nose

Hi;
Im a new owner of a 328i and in my book it states that the red light on the mirror is supossed flash when I lock the doors. It does'nt. When I lock the door the red light doesn't flash, the lights or horn doesn't either. Can I activate these myself without having to visit a dealer?

Unless you have the programmer like I do, No..you can't do this yourself.
You need to bring it to the dealer, and they will make you fill in a check list on the features you want.

The programming will activate your clown nose and lights, but not horn. You need the alarm for the horn.

Well I called my dealer yesterday to have them program the flash, but the guy say they cant do it unless I have an alarm .. Do you know what page that it say the clown nose flash in the manual.. So I can maybe get mine program...[???1]

I just had this done last week. Tell them you need the "visual locking" option programmed.
Works like a charm. Headlights flash, bozo nose blinks......

Lucky, I guess
A close friend who doesn't need it anymore because he sold his car gave me the programmer.

Can you find out from him where he got it? I don't even know what to call it to do a search on it. There are so many kinds of programmers, even for BMW's, but I know this one is quite special.

Are you saying you have the device that can program the various modules in our cars?

I have a German car shop who says BMW doesn't sell those or distribute programs for public use for that kind of stuff (ECU module, etc.)

Are you talking about a code reader that can also reset things like service lights and fault codes? Because that is way different than a module programmer. Only dealers have those.

Unless yours is stolen or something......

Yup, that is what I have, the programmer.

I couldn't believe it when I got it, but I did.
Nope, It is not a stollen good.

Actually, my friend didn't give me for free (I wish). I had to buy it from him for about $200.
