Clutch master cylinder question

I recently picked up an 87 325E 5 speed. It's in very nice shape and mechanically near perfect.
However, the brake fluid line that runs to the clutch master cylinder under the knee bolster seems to have popped out of the master cylinder and leaked some fluid under there. So know the master cylinder is getting no fluid, but somehow the clutch is still working.
I want to put it back into the master cylinder but there's the spring for the clutch pedal in the way. If i try to move it out of the way and put the brake line back in, as soon as i release the clutch pedal the spring comes down and forces the line out of the master cylinder again.
Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong?
Any advise is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hmm,

That is the clutch over center spring link.
It makes holding the pedal depressed easier.

The hose is twisted to the side to allow clearance.

You will soon need walking shoes in the trunk unless this is fixed.
