[thumb] Hey there bimmer dreamers and gear heads, riddle me this if you will... I've read a little about CAI's (just enough to be dangerous) however I did come across some information that referred to CAI's and noise. The information I read was on the Bavarian Auto website which basically said, " BMW builds their air filter in a box to decrease noise which limits performance." Basically to anyone who has a CAI on their E46 did it increase the under the hood or interior noise. I've just about finished all of my exterior work and am about to launch my engine upgrade program, which will include a chip, CAI, plasma plug wires and a Flow through exhaust. Thanks in advance...

i have a gruppe m and the noise is barely noticeable due to my uuc tse3 exhaust. i can makeout a slight whine esp between 2500 to 3500 rpm. i love my cai and exhaust setup. i can feel it pull even in 5th gear at triple digits.

The guya bove me is running a TSE exhaust. TSE's are pretty friggin loud. When you install your CAI youll defintely notice a new noise. The majority of the noise you will hear will be in the high end portion of your band when you are full on throttle. itll be enough to notice it if you are pretty hardcore about cars or you are listening to hear it. It really doesnt bother you while driving.

Good Luck!
