I just ordered a 330ci in sparkling graphite. Then I tracked down a dealer who had this car outside so I could see the color. I didnt really care for it in person because it had a purple hue. I always admire either black, white or silver cars. (I'm not into anything colorful!!) I dont want the titanium because I've heard that its hard to match the paint. Could anyone tell me if the silver grey is a true silver grey or does it look like an icy blue? The guy I ordered the car from said that I can change the color but I have to do it quick! At this point I'm gonna get white because I know it definately looks white! I have a black car now so thats not an option either. Thanks!! :)

congrats on your purchase! and welcome. what options did you get on yours?

white is good, esp for girls imo. (i'm basing it on your name..) i think it suits girls better than guys. black and silver are a dime a dozen, so i don't like it as much. titanium silver is prolly the silver that most people have. silver gray is gun metalish, but i for one, don't like it. (but i saw it on an x5, so it maybe a bit different on the 3er.)

best bet is to goto a dealer on a clear day, esp when looking at a gray car, and look at the color in person. (i really liked graphite on g35, when i saw it on a cloudy day. then when i went back on a sunny day, it looked like what i call an old-man gray, yuk.) i've never seen sparkling graphite in person. (it looks like a ci only color) looks like it fits in between the black and the silver gray. how about electric red? that's a rare color for bimmers, and i was talking to this one girl that had it, she really liked it, and infact picked it up because no one really has one. (not sure if yer a red person tho.. ^^;;) if not for the perf package, i might've opted for the electric red..

edit: just found this thread. guy has the 330ci w/ the color in question with perf package. pictures DSC00267, 268, 271 272 and 273 show the exterior. he seems happy w/ the color, even w/ the slight purple hue.

White is definately a great color! If it was a girly color I actually wouldn't get it! I'm very very far from a tomboy but I grew up in an auto body and race car family so I'd rather drive a car that was as far away from a girl's car as possible. At one time I thought the Cadillac El Dorado was the car for me!! I did go to a dealer yesterday but it was raining, cloudy and the cars were all wet so it was so hard to judge colors. I've never seen silver grey on the road, most 3 series I see are black or titanium. I got Nav, heated seats, and PDC. I wanted the sport package but I have to drive a lot in the snow and I heard the performance tires were not so great. The car I ordered was sparkling graphite with sand leather but thats definately going to change!!! I would admire the red but I personally prefer neutral colors.

i don't think it's a girl color per say. (it's hard to dig outa this one eh? ^^;;) you just gotta go with what you like. (i forgot you mentioned you didn't like anything colorful) did you consider the cold weather package? i know it's not that big a deal, but i thought the headlight spray was a cool option. since you are already getting the heated seats. (which is the best invention since the A/C imo) and in snow situation, it may help. it's another $250 to get that and the ski bag.. xenon is another option that lots of people regret not getting, because it is way brighter than the regular halogens. also in the ci you get the adaptive lights. i love my xenons, and wish i had the adaptives, but no luck on the sedans. (i'll stop trying to sound like a salesman now.)

all season tires aren't the greatest in snow, but performance tires can't even compare in the cold, let alone snow. the thing is, i'm a big proponent of snow tires, since i think A/S tires are about 80% in every situation. and some set aren't that great in the winter. (the rubber compound freezes up in the cold and gives up a lot of traction because of it.) but having a separate summer and snow tire set is a hassle. pain to keep swapping back and forth every season, and temp watching in the transition months is also added pain in the neck. so i could see why most people don't.

you just might be second guessing yourself after a big purchase. i think everyone goes through that, more than once! mind you. like gussing on a test, first instinct usually is the correct one, but take some friends and fam along to the dealership and find the best match for you.

Alpine Weiss sounds more masculine.. [;)]

It's a 'safe' color, looks clean when it's dirty (just don't run your fingers down the side), and looks splendid when cleaned up nicely.

First of all welcome to the Forum 330Girl!

I agree with you I am not a fan of the new Sparkling Graphite color. I am not a big fan of the purple hue it gives off. Maybe if it was a darker color purple, but I would prefer it in the silver/black/white/grey color.

Thank for the advice!! Everyone's car looks so good! I cant wait to get mine! I really admire the sterling grey. I know they make it on the 7 and Im not sure about the 5. The salesman told me that I can get the 330ci in that color but BMW charges 2,500 extra. That is definately the best color out there but I'm not sure if I want to spend that much. Although it would be cool to have an original........

nope, no sterling gray on the 5er either. yea dropping $2500 extra for a paint job could be a lil high, considering your sticker price. but like you said, it would really be a one of a kind! i haven't seen it in person, actually never heard of it until today. if you want it enough.. my mom wanted an imola red so much, she paid the extra $2500 for the custom option on her X5. before the 4.8is came out, it was prolly one of the only imola red 04 X5s on the road. even now, its hard to find one in that color.

Since you are looking for opinions, I was REAL close to getting Silver Gray instead of Jet Black. There are days (rainy!) when I wish I had gotten Silver Gray. The Silver Gray is beautiful, especially with Black Leather.

Congrats!! Welcome!
Not to get your hopes up, but depending on when your production slot is, the car may come sooner.
My dealer said 60 days and it was more like 40-45, but they put my car in a generic slot they had coming up. Just remember, the dealer has more up to date info than the Owner's Circle, if you get antsy.
I drove in a couple of inches of fresh snow Thanksgiving Eve (barely plowed, too) and was surprised how well the car handled. I can't decide if snow tires are necessary even tho I swore I'd get them. I was waiting to turn left at a light and when the light turned yellow, the Escort coming towards me stopped and turned 90 degrees!! I did slide a little sideways while coming up to a red light while barely braking and going like 5 mph.

thanks for giving me a hard time about the color [:p] bet you can't wait! but even when you do get the car, try as hard as you might to properly break it in! your car will thank you w/ years of great service. do post the pics.

btw, i love my snows so far. coming back from the stones game tonight, snow had just melted, but the road sort of froze over, handled beautifully mostly w/out the traction light even coming on. weird how its easier to driver w/out slipping than walking on the same road.. (we haven't had ton o snow yet, so i can't tell for sure, but i'm carefully testing it out..)

I'm excited but I wouldn't mind if the car came in the spring bec. I dont drive in snow even though I have to drive for my job (oh well)!! So I may keep my current car until spring and only take the BMW out on nice days. Also in NYC when it snows the salt gets all over the car (I hear that its bad for paint) and the streets are covered in black (not white) slush. Since it will probably be freezing I wont be able to wash the car by hand and the car wash it never as good so I dont want the car to be filthy by the time spring comes. I had to order it now bec. of a trade-in situation that has to be done ASAP!
