Bought this off Ebay here . (Top right). It cost £67 + postage £27. Clearly it will fit in width and height. Depth may be an issue as it's 76cm as opposed to 60cm (Allard)..I will need 2 short right angled pipes

....3 months later finally past the thinking stage ....I'll see how the car likes living with this slightly more restricted airflow for a while before repositioning the old fan currently upfront to its new home behind the rad. Trimmed the new cowling which originally had the same perimeter profile as the cowling behind the rad with a jigsaw to fit snuggly one inside the other ... then bolted them together like this

took the old fan and pwm controller unit off its old front mounted frame this afternoon and mounted it in the new adapted cowling (used some more bolts with spring washers to secure very firmly) behind the rad. im gonna run it like this for a week or two to make sure it doesnt overheat vibrate etc. was a bit worried it would vibrate too much as the old fan frame is actually cushioned with rubber grommets where its bolted to the car. but it runs smooth vibration free as before & aircon no change there either so looking good :) touch wood
here are some photos...

And had you actually asked or looked before attempting to defame me or this board you would have seen that the infraction was reversed. This was an honest error due to an upgrade in our system that I did not realize did not actually post your multiple threads.

What does this upgrade do? Better performance? How much
faster does the car go?

Looks like you did a great job, though. I would have screwed
that install up for sure.

4 reasons:
more power (not measured yet)
better fuel consumption
decreased thermal load on engine
increased scope for more boost
(the car is of course a european turbodiesel)

Here's an article in 4 parts on the subject which leads on to spray jets

http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/article.html?&A=0527

So, the next thing which has been in the back of my mind for some time this one, and now starting to think about it more seriously.

I dont want to fork out for an intelligent one though ...happy to flick a switch me!
Now, it seems fortunate that I don't have headlight cleaning jets because if im not mistaken the washer bottle has a blank recess where the headlight washer pump would have gone?
Using this reservoir has a couple or three obvious advantages a. theres a warning light when it runs low b. its large c. no more space required for installation of another tank.
i think basically i need to buy a headlamp washer system minus the usual jets, some fixing brackets and alternative jets (4 maybe?) which produce a fine mist.
no. 4 here
